How to Polyrhythm with AR

Just a beginner’s question how to do a polyrhythm.
In order to have a polyrhythmic structure one goes to [SCALE Menu], then [ADVANCED] and then sets a different length (7/16; 9/16; 14/16 etc.) for each track. Additionally you put Master Length to INF. And that’s that? Is that how you do a polyrhythm on the Analog Rytm?

yes. In addition to this, the master LEN parameter can be used for coming up with 7/15 etc, inf is only one way to use it.

You can do poly rhythms by using the retrig functionaly. E.g triplets, tuplets.
How to make a poly metric patterns is however exactly how you are describing it above.

The master length is useful for Meshuggah-like resets.
But INF is really where the fun is at. :nosey:

Make sure to set the CHNG parameter to something like 16 so that the Pattern will change properly when cued.

Ah I see, thank you. And thanks to a google search I got the difference between poly rhythms and poly metrics now :smiley:

just another noob question: How do I set triplets with th retrig functionality? It is the rate setting, right? And then just set th rate to 1/3? :sweat_smile:

1/3 6 12 24 48 :slight_smile:

I just started playing with polyrhythms and while super fun I keep having a strange issue where my patterns won’t change while set to INF. I’ve had the Change setting set to 16, 32, 48 and 64 and it still won’t change until I put the master down to a regular number, like one would do on an Octatrack. I’m not home right now to check my firmware but I thought I was up to date… anyone else experience this?

what’s the difference between 1/3 and 1/24 when both settings are triplets?

Resolution.

so higher resolutions just means more hits per beat?

Yes: 3 beats to a bar, 6 beats to a bar, 12 beats to a bar etc.
Bar = 16 steps
