How to make good Techno lead patches

Hope people here can help me with some good patch/pattern suggestions for high note techno lead sounds.

After owning the A4 for 1,5 years and the Rytm for less than a year I’m finding it way easier to make nice sounding techno compositions on the Rytm then it is to work with the A4. Admittedly I started out from 0 when purchasing the synth so I don’t have a background in synthesizing or musical composition but it’s sometimes a little annoying that I can get stuff that I like out of the Rytm but not so much from the A4.

Even with all the sound patches from free packs one can download and some packs that I bought on selfy I still don’t really have any of the sounds/patches that I am looking to use. I don’t think they are necessarily that hard to create but the synthesis is still giving me a hard time. Also does anyone know of a good tutorial or online class to follow for this. I’ve tried looking at Ableton tutorials but I can’t always apply the same approach on the A4.

Here are some sounds I am specifically looking to create:

Those leads sound like simple and short sounds with a long reverb.

Use a single osc and give the attack on the amp or the filter env. As said long decay time on the reverb.

High resonance filters with tracking also gives nice beeps, so does FM.

The reason it’s easyer for you to get there with ther Rytm is probably because it’ simpler at synth-level. And the type of sounds you seem to be pretty simple ( = not mucht modulation and time -variants ).
It’s easyer to get lost in the woods with the A4 - AK due to the more sofisticated synth - engine.

So keep things simple when you start making a sound…
*

First look for a statick wave you like > 1or 2 Oscillators > Put all envelopes attack and decay at 0 to start with ( sustains at 64 maybe - release at taste )> Filter 1 Totally open with NO modulation and no resonance > Filter 1 Highpass with no mod. and no reso. > All FX send - returs ( amp page ) at 0.

Now put a few trigs in a pattern so you can make the sequencer run while you edit.
*
To have a look into tha different sound this machine can deliver you don’t need much modulation ( LFO’s etc … ) at the moment , keep that
for later…
*
Yust play with aal the different waves of both Oscillators > how they sound when layered > at different piches and with different sub-waves > expereiment with the oscillator - sync -settings > try different pulsewith - modulations < taste all that sonic terrytory ( wich is vast ), but keep your hands of modulations - that’'s for later. ( or keep it simple )
*
By only plkaying with the oscillator anbd ENVelopes release - settings yoou’ be in Lead - territory pretty soon ( add the FX - you like, but don’t rely tu much on it for the sound-caracter itself ).
*
The Distortion-Overdrive after Filter 1 great for thikening or adding agressiveness )…
*
Save the ( statick ) sounds you like a lot ( don’t wayt until you find the ideal one ) and go on with thesame sound until it’s fucked - up > at laest now you can reverse to a previous version you still liked.
*
Keep the sequencer running whyle editing.
*
Don’t forget tu try -ot different filters and their settings, but avoid heavy modulation for now > (that’ where many players get lost when starting with synthesis )
*
ones you have some statick -sounds you like, you can star experimenting with modulation, but if I was you i would have the discipline to learn them 1 by 1 but to the bottom, so inthe future you know where to go whenyou want to push your sound in a direction you wish to go.
*
As Ogig say’s these are peritty statick sounds

  • BUT leads have some slow movement
most of the time > SLow LFO’s, Long Decays or Slow PulseWith - modulation are the rigth Tools … so experiment with those on your statick discovery’s.
    *
For smooth modulation > use non-dotted Envelopes > ( so the attacks don’t retrigger )

How a sound is percieved dépends a lot on the surrounding sounds, so when using them in a setup a lot of readjusting is probably gonna be needed.

GOOD LUCK - better to go slow at the beginng but really knowing what"s going on … I think
