How to clean MK1 black AR and A4?

Might be a weird question but I really need to know, I have some dust and a few spots from whatever, they were just standing there collecting dust basically.

Octatrack has a smooth surface so it’s easy to wipe with a synthetic cloth. But AR and A4 have a “rough” matte surface and when I passed a synthetic cloth some dust sort of stayed on them because the surface is not smooth, so it feels like I need to use a mild cleaner perhaps.

I am preparing them for sale so I want to make them look nice so I really need help with this silly task. Thanks.

Take the frontplate off and immerge in clean water. Then dry with a blower.
Pay atrention not to heat up too much bc of the windows adhesive

And do not put any stuff in the water.

Which adhesive, sorry?

The transparent window for the display is glued to the metal plate. Water is fine, but i would not add any cleaners to it as they may harm the plastic and the glue.

Got it, thanks.

I bought an Octatrack mkII that arrived reeking of cigarette smoke. A few baby water wipes later the unit was clean and after a while, smoke free.

So the knobs, I just use some force and pull them off?

Right, but slow movement as you really do not want to fuck up your encoders. And do NOT clean around the pin of it, tjere might by greasy stuff and some dirt, just leave them alone, they are fine this way.
No sideway pushing or pulling, just straight upwards.

even pressure on the whole knob while you are taking them off as not to bend or damage the encoder.

An inexpensive knob puller may be worth the investment.

Threading a piece of thin cloth (tee shirt) under the knob and then pulling up evenly from both sides is my personal fav.

Why not a soft haired brush if dust is the only issue?
