I don’t have a lot of money to throw at gear right now but I’m thinking of buying a Novation Circuit to sync up to my set up of two Digitakts for Live performance. I’ve been following the progress of the Circuit and feel pretty confident it will add what I’m looking for to the mix in regards to sonic and performance capabilities.
I’ve been watching lots of videos and reading as many reviews and posts as possible, most seem positive though I have read some things that made me hesitate in regards to possible bugs and/or unwanted behaviours. As I said I plan is to use it Live on stage and being essentially a “budget” synth my main concerns is if it will be solid and reliable enough for the job.
Have you been let down by it mid performance?
Have you noticed any bugs and/or odd behaviours while performing with it?
Are there any issues you know of that would present a problem and maybe result in complete catastrophe in front of a crowd?
Ideally looking for advice on this from users that have used it as part of a live set up in front of an actual club crowd. But by all means if you’re a power home user please feel free to share your thoughts.
Haven’t used it in a live setting, but had it for a while to complement my digitakt. Had not a single issue with it bugging out. I would say that almost everything you could consider could leave you with your trousers around your ankles in front of a crowd. And the price of the kit doesn’t guarantee anything.
Circuitiis amazing if you’re on a budget. Whatever you go for, just plan a contingency, practice breathing exercises, read zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, and you should be fine
I had one for a while and never had a crash or issue though I mostly used it stand alone.
You’ll need a mixer as the digitakt will sum it to mono if you use audio through ( I think , it’s been a while since I did it. ) … maybe someone can confirm .
You will love it! Just be sure to install the latest firmware, Novation has just made it better and better over the years. In general, I’d say Novation is extremely good about releases having minimal bugs.
Also, check out Ricky Tinez’s live setup videos, and you’ll see some nice workflow tips using it with Elektron devices.
