How not to record Octatrack's metronome while using the cue outs for external fx?

Hi, I’m trying to record hardware synths to the OT MKi using a THRU machine (IN A B), sending them out through the cue outs to external fx, coming back in another THRU track( IN C D). A flex track is set to record the effected signal , either input C D or MAIN out or T5(which is the THRU track with the fx) but im keep hearing the metronome in the recording. I understand that probably the metronome wouldn’t be in the recording if i just record tracks/main outs/ or uneffected inputs…but does it mean that i can’t use a metronome when im using the cue outs for external fx??

You can turn down the cue volume and turn up the main volume for the metronome in the project settings then set the headphone mix to 50/50 main/cue on the mixer page. That should work as long as you’re not recording the main outs. I don’t think there’s a way to not record the metronome if you’re recording both main and cue. I could be wrong…

Turn the metronome off… like turning off your lights at night while driving in the fast lane.

@kindred the metronome can be sent to MAIN instead of CUE.

The metronome signal path is separated so you can record MAIN (or other sources) without recording the metronome.

Project > Control > Metronome
Reduce CUE Level to 0

It would be great if you could just send the metronome to the headphone out, not going to either cue or main.

It doesn’t seem possible despite the particular routing of metronome : not possible to record it internally.

Headphones output is post Headphones Main/Cue Mix, you hear mix of what is sent to Main and Cue. I think there is no way to send an individual signal to headphones only, path is probably analog.

Thanks everyone! I managed! I get lost sometimes in the labyrinth of routings of the octatrack

Metronome is somewhere between MAIN LEVEL and CUE LEVEL Headphones MIX…:content:
