How much time do you spend on youtube? Survey & discussion

The time I spend literally watching is very low but the time spent with videos running while my phone is in my pocket can sometimes be quite high. If I’m on a job site with good cell reception (a crapshoot where I live) I’ll often have YouTube run most of the day. Obviously I’m not playing videos with any necessary visual component, I either treat it like podcasts or I use it to listen to music. For the podcast style stuff it varies depending on what I’m interested in that day but common themes are scientific lectures and debates, music theory, philosophy, psychology, literary analysis, etc. but I go way outside of this kind of stuff if the mood strikes me, these are just the safe go-tos. I like to start the day with political aggregators (I have several regular sources) so I can make note of what to look into further when I have the time. There are a few weekly shows I tend to watch, my current favorite being “Puttin’ on Airs” described as “two hillbilly dumbasses talk about fancy people shit”, it’s like drinking with my cousins if they had better senses of humor.
I subscribe to several channels, maybe a dozen or so, but about half of them only seem to put out a handful of videos a year (jexus for example).
All of this being said, I haven’t been on YouTube at all in over a week because the cell network where I’ve been working is too weak to stream a video. Even in my house there are only some rooms where I can watch videos.
