Hey gang, found an interesting local listing for a D-50. Seems like a really good price and a “90% of it’s life in box” miracle situation. Just wondering if anyone out there has an idea of how much this might be worth? Thanks for any input fam!
700 bucks?
Thank you! That is pretty much what I was thinking based on my research. Wanted some confirmation. Any other opinions are welcome, thanks!
i bought mine together with the original case and 5 extra soundcards for about 200bucks…
the guy who sold it seemed not knowing what’s he selling…
mine looks as it’s been never used…
Yeah I agree with Jay above - if you don’t care about the box then you can find minty D-50s for cheap
edit but I’d personally pay 700 for a boxed one - it’s a classic synth and a collector will always pay more for boxed if you decide to sell on
No opinion on the price but my overall opinion is that these synths have loads of unique character. If there is a candidate for Roland’s Monomachine, this is it IMHO (w/o the sequencer of course).
just shot a pic of mine…the green card you can see on the bottom left side was actually never on sale.
it was the card the roland distributor guys used worldwide to show the best sounds of the synth during it’s launch period in 1987
i got the card as a present for good sales, from the head of sales of roland switzerland which is the oldest roland-distributor outside japan by the way
these guys have some pretty rare spare parts still on stock today
bottom line… if you find a d50 in good condition, i would buy it
be sure to check if all of the buttons are still working, some of them are in bad shape sometimes
Wow @jayphonic that is so cool! I really hate to confess, I actually really want this synth, but I was asking about price because I was thinking about buying and flipping this thing. Can’t afford anything at all right now but might be able to make a couple hundred bucks. If I bought it I’m not sure I would be able to sell it though, I think I would like it too much. Thanks again for all the feedback dudes. That new Legowelt gear vid isn’t helping either, he has some really nice words about it.
i’m always on the hunt of older synths, not only analog stuff, cause here’s too much crap out there…
but the digital synths from the 90’s are mostly in quite good shape, depending on the former owner
I wouldn’t mind finding a D-50 card for my V-synth but they are non existent.
Please stop these threads, I just closed a deal on a D50 and now the guy who’s selling it says he read it is worth 700!

well…they are quite rare and the sellers know that.
You guys can continue driving up the price!
Since last week I am the happy owner of a D50 with memory card (useful for patch organization and data transfer stuff, since the D50 only does bulk dumps). Wonderful machine, missing link in my setup.
