How many patterns for 1 song/ songs in a project

I sometimes want to use five, or more pattens in a song. Then my amount of songs is pretty limited for a project. Maybe I can ‘song transfer’ with octatrack from project to project… didn’t try that yet… but…

it will be much easier to create songs from only one pattern. This will mean one pattern in Rytm and one pattern in Keys. Then muting and unmuting, + macro fx knobs and buttons.

I start to like the one patten songs to build my techno live set, but once I start to be melodic I start to use all my patterns again…

What do you do?

Same story. Anything melodic tends to use more patterns. I originally thought I might stick too 8 patterns per song but this goes out the window all too easily.
I’m currently reconstructing a vocal house track in the OT that we originally did in Cubase. It’s likely going to use all 16 patterns of the bank just for 1 song.
Not practical for live stuff but perfectly fine in the studio.

I use external sequencing whenever I need to overcome such limits. tbh most of the stuff I do I can easily cover with 1-3 patterns on the rytm as its not the only tonegen involved…
