How do you sync DAW's tempo to your A4's tempo

Hi,

I’m a little new here. My question is how do you sync a tempo on your DAW (in my case Logic) to your A4?

For example, I have a sequence running on A4 at 130bpm. I also setup the tempo in my Logic project’s to 130. But when you record it, how can you make it sync together without having to move the audio file around later?

Thanks,
Bill

You probably need one of these:

I’m in Logic X on OSX mavericks.

Logic preferences - A4 Slave Logic master

A4 - Global
Midi Preferences - Check the following
Clock receive
Transport receive
Program Change receive

Logic - Midi Sync project Settings
Transmit Midi Clock - Set Appropriate Destination for either Destination 1 or 2 - either via your sound card midi port or set the A4 USB as destination (depends how you work).
MTC Transmit ALL - my preferred setting
Midi Machine Control - if using something like an MPC for example (but I want to keep this simple for now).

I keep all Midi Output Delay @ 0.0 ms
And delay transmit ion by Zero Ticks.

Please note thought that I have the OT with its Midi Thru Going to a Quadra Thru too Midi In of the MnM and have the A4 Last in the Chain.

My MnM Sequences my Trition and Microbrute the OT sequences the Yamaha A5000 & E6400 Ultra with my Integra I7 being sequenced via USB out into the I7 via Logic - all samplers are recorded into Logic via SPDIF (used as clock source).

Everything else is via analog desk into sound card audio in’s ( A4, MnM, OT, Triton, MS20, Microbrute + any separate audio outs from whatever gear i want recorded that way).

This works for me but you want to be syncing the A4 to Logic and not the other way round and I also have COUNT IN set to ZERO.

My audio records bang on transient working this way but don’t know what audio / midi interface you’re using.
