How do you feel about a Minibrute

It’s been a while since I’ve messed with mine. It was my first analog/hardware foray in synthesis. It takes time to squeeze the juice out of it in the mixer section for the Oscillator. You can get a lot of bass just pumping that resonance with some filter cutoff.

Mixing the waveforms without getting murky or sounding to repetedly the same takes just exploring it. With the ability to modulate each one individually like the saw sounding like two saws when you use it’s modulation slider and the wave folder, etc.

As far as levels and distortion yeah, keeping it below the halfway is the way to go if you want a cleaner tone.

I bought it b/c at the time it was the least expensive compared to the re-issued mini MS-20 and the 1,000.00- Moog Sub Phatty, but I didn’t want menu diving and the MS was not just more expensive but I wasn’t drawn into the modular patching either at the time. And the Minibrute does have it’s own character, which I thought was better being that everyone has used a Moog or an MS-20 to death, and since the oscillator is pretty unique, the wavefolder can make it sound 0-coast like, and the Stiener Parker Filter was unseen elsewhere until the Minibrute arrived.

I think you’d have better luck finding patch photo’s maybe, if not I probably still have a file of them I could post possibly for you if your interested. Sample packs probably weren’t a thing b/c you don’t have a ‘Moog’ or classic kind of tone in it, and I would generally drench my patches in reverb.

The brute factor at lower levels is great for getting some dirty, Boards Of Canada vibes and if you want to warm something up passing audio through it is great. I used to do that with the nord lead 2 rack and didn’t really like playing it unless I was putting it through the brute filter.

Anyone still using the Minibrute 2s around these parts? I had one for a while and enjoyed it but moved it on-thinking of picking up another.

Just wondered whether others were using. Sound engine wise it is similar to a lot of other monos in the same price range (or less) as mentioned above, but the sequencer and layout etc still makes it standout a little to me.

I’ve got one on the way,
I would be interested in this if it’s not too much trouble.
I’m just getting into semi-modular/modular

Cheers mate

I found about 80 patch photo’s I still have. The question I’m now facing is, how to get them to you or make it possible for them to be available in a link I can share here? Any idea’s?

winrar it. and mediafire?? dunno,
or maybe the google alternative of mediafire

Google Photo and do a public Album and Post the Link to anyone who is interested? Ppl than can download the whole album.

Same - seems silly to let it go with such a nice l sequencer. I hope to pick up at least one 6U rackbrute when I get back into modular.

Kinda. I still have mine but it’s in the box on a shelf. I keep almost selling it and then getting it back out and changing my mind. Invariably it ends up back on the shelf though.
I think it sounds good but I can get similar enough sounds from other gear I own. What I love about it is the interface/ functionality/ sequencer. It’s a really fun synth to play. If I had eurorack gear there’s no way I’d let it go as it has so much utility. I’ve been on the fence for a year now.

It’s pretty underutilized over here. I don’t really love the brightness so it’s used for the odd drones, or chaotic noise. I flip flop similarly, wondering if I should sell it but it doesn’t seem worth the resell. Despite all that I think it’s really well designed piece and yeah… the sequencer. I keep it around in the event of a eurorack dive.

If anyone hasn’t seen Oscillator Sink’s patch vids for it - they are great inspiration (and well executed)
