How do I properly connect Model:Samples to an iPad Air 4?

Hello, I have an iPad Air 4th Generation and I have connected it with an Apple USB C to USB Adapter. The issue I am having is when the Model:Samples is turned on it automatically “takes over” the audio output so all of the iPad audio is now routed through the Model:Samples instead of coming out of the iPad. Furthermore it even disables the iPad audio device altogether so I can no longer use it. It seems that the signal is also quite low so I end up having to increase it a lot inside software and this sometimes results in clipping.

Does anyone know the best way to route things so I can get audio + midi? I have tried to look inside the model settings to see if it is possible to disable onboard audio but couldn’t figure it out.

This is the adapter I am using: USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple (UK)

That’s how iPads work. They can only have 1 audio interface connected at a time. The last audio interface that’s connected wins. That would be your model samples. Midi will go over the same usbC, but you can add additional midi interfaces.
