Great thread. I had difficulty answering how old i was to a mate last night, who also wasn’t sure how old he was. We agreed 43 and 44 :joy:

Seems like this is where i should be. Can’t say i get nostalgic tho, it’s forward thinking music and i like looking back to look forward.

There was a time when playing « rolling and scratching » in a set was considered highly underground…

This one also had its moments of glory in our sets…

Now this is my kind of thread, I was in it to win it back at the height of the UK rave scene, pretty much worked all week to stay up all weekend… here’s a couple of my all time faves…

I kinda want to get copies of all the tracks in this thread and make a mix. :upside_down_face:

The break and the “31 Seconds” sample were included in a Future Music magazine CD. I can’t say Original Unknown took them from that CD; the break is obviously a classic. The friend I collaborated with through our teens and I made a track with the same break and vocal. Theirs was better and obviously became a hit, but the pairing of samples made us feel really “one-upped”, but also that we had taste. I doubt either of us have a recording of “our version”.

(Wikipedia says they did use the samples from the Future Music CD  Valley of the Shadows - Wikipedia)

This is one of my favourite early 90s trance/progressive/house tracks when no one was quite sure of genre yet  The descending melody is just so beautifully hypnotic, and the whole track has this joy inducing ‘naive’ positivity about it. Plus I had one of my most hallucinatory experiences listening to this track at sunrise in the Welsh hills many years ago.

And today I discover this amazing remix by the Orb, and a new addition to the playlist! Intention is to make another mix soon

To the OP, love your Nostalgia tapes mix. The 90s house sound is so special.

Would love to hear more mixes from you or anyone else. The only DJ I follow who regularly dives deep into the 90s is DJ Estimulo.

When you grow up listening to 90s house/techno, it’s hard to forget that sound, and the influence it has over you and how you hear and produce electronic music.

Just sharing some love for underrated 90’s producer Dave Yanu, aka Slide. Only put out a few releases, but these rocked my world.

Lovely stuff, added it to the playlist :+1:

I often see artists that just seem to have suddenly stopped producing, I always wonder what their story is…
Loving the 3rd track Fractal, going in the playlist.
