I’m trying to just get my mc505 to just take a play command from logic, but am having a hard time. Any advice for syncing mc505s would be welcome. It should be as easy as pressing play on logic, but that doesn’t do it.

Have you configured Logic to transmit MIDI clock?
File > Project Settings > Synchronisation > MIDI tab
Enable Transmit MIDI Clock and choose your interface.
That is typically all that’s required on the Logic side.
On the MC505 you would need to configure the transport to start from MID in the system settings.
