A quick question that could save me…
Here’s the deal:
I have some pads recorded in wav, want to put them in the octatrack but i can’t find how to make them play and loop correctly.
My ‘sample’ is based on a 8 measures pattern but there’s some release on it, so the sample goes further than 8 measures.
How could I make it play correctly on the Octa ? Is there a way to get the Octa ‘polyphonic’ ?

Suggestion :
make a new sample with the sample looping two times (the second time, overlapping). Then set up your new sample so it launches at the beginning but loops only the second half.
There isn’t a way to get the OT polyphonic in the way you’re looking for. The release is always going to be cut off.
The only (annoying) workaround I can think of is to make two separate patterns, identical except for having the sample in question on two different tracks. Then if you switch between them, you’ll be able to let the release play out. But that’s most likely not a practical solution.
You might also be able to fake something like a release with reverb or delay sends parameter locked toward the end of the sample.

Elektron could fix this problem in an update I’m sure.

Yeah I feel your pain, but don’t get your hopes up on Elektron changing this with an update. The fact that each track is monophonic is pretty central to how the Octatrack works.
the pad decay can be a separate sample on another track and launch it after your initial pad sample trig.
it’s beginning to be too much complicated for a simple release…
I will continue to use a mpc-500 that contains all my samples with release, put them in a program and trig them via the OT’midi tracks…

yes thats the best option.
You’ll need two tracks, but you can have your release. Go into the pattern settings (Make sure rec rod light is off and then hit function + Bank/Edit).
Select ‘per track’ scale mode and hit Enter/yes, then exit. Now Pick 2 trakcs for your pad, eg 5 &6. On each, set it to be 4 bars in length and set the track multiplier to 1/4. Be sure to set the Master track length to be at least 128.
On track 5, put a trig for your pad on Measure 1, step 1. On track 6, put another trig on Measure 3 step 1. Because you are playing the tracks back at 1/4 speed, they will trigger alternately every 8 bars, but the release on track 5 will keep playing when track 6 is triggered and vice versa.
