Holding a trig affects the length of incoming notes

Hello folks,

This is something I already noticed with the Syntakt a year ago, and even contacted the support, who helped me finding a workaround, but I recently got a DT2, and noticed the same behavior is present.

So the thing is: if one of the tracks plays long notes from an external sequencer, holding any trig (even trigless trigs) on any track will affect the length of the long notes being played.

Here’s an example: PXL_20241112_155823548.mp4 - Google Drive

In this example the Oxi One plays the long bass notes on track 9, and whenever I hold a kick trig on track 1 (around 0:15 in the video), the playback of track 9 gets interrupted earlier than it should.

As I mentioned, there is a workaround, which is going to track 9 and setting the default note length to what you expect it to be (in my case 32, but INF works fine too), but most of all, I’m curious, why is it even a thing? If it’s a voluntary feature, I would be curious to know who would even want it and what for. If it’s a bug, then i feel like it’s kinda weird that it managed to live through two generations of devices (as it’s also present at least on the Syntakt).

Opinions?

It‘s sort if a happy accident. This is also known by the community and utilized as performance effects.
Basically if you sequence notes externally you can then make trig locks and use them for performance effects as long as you hold them. Even better, it doesn‘t matter which track you are on, so you can map anything interesting from eaxh track to say the first trig and listen back while holding down the trig button.
I hope this does not get fixed

ooooh i’ve actually seen this in a youtube video, and it is great indeed, however I thought it only worked with trigless trigs or fill trigs

i’m now kinda conflicted about that bug/feature, I feel like it would be great to still have it (maybe only on trigless trigs, so it doesn’t stop people from using it as they do it now?), but on my side it’s pretty annoying having to go on each track and adjust the note length in the middle of a jam

I’ve reported this bug.
