Hmmm?

Wouldn’t it be fun if this forum was full of (more)people who actually liked their machines? It’s a bit hard to get to the good user feedback while wading through the muck.
Suggestion:
1: Do a lot of research before you spend a considerable amount of money on something. Make sure it does what you want out of it. Read the full manual before buying. Read about current known bugs online. Listen to and demo one if at all possible. Be ready to buy only if It works for what you want at the moment you buy it.
2: If you don’t like your Elektron machine, please realize that YOU made a mistake when buying it, and return during the return period of where you got it from, or sell it to someone who appreciates it for what it does.
These suggestions are meant to help you so you don’t have to blow all your hard earned scrill on something that frustrates you, I’m pretty sure that’s not the point of getting one of these things.
And then, we can have a healthy and fun user forum.
I am not a fanboy, I am just being real. Life is funny and It seems the only thing you can really control is yourself, no one else, so basically we have no control of whether or when Elektron will update this or that, but we do have full control over if we purchase or sell something. If you buy something you don’t like, the bottom line is that you have absolutely no control over whether the people you got it from will improve it or not in the future. If they say they will, they probably mean it, but still you have no control. Especially with electronics this is very important because even if a company says they are working on this or that functionality in the future, sometimes they hit a wall and find its a lot harder and takes more time than expected or that its not technologically possible without updating hardware, which perhaps they learn from and incorporate in the next version. If you are a wise purchaser, you wait until the functionality is actually present when purchasing, no matter what the people you buy it from say.
Be smart, make wise purchases, have fun!!

I am busy using it

I know you’re not prompting affirmation and all that but…

it’s all about the immediacy for me, the Elektrons are the closest I’ve got to plugging my mind into an amp and manifesting I don’t know what.

When I’m lost in a jam and I don’t know whether it’s me or the machines doing it, or both, or neither I find it a complete thrill. That’s all I need and I’m completely happy to work with the tools presented at a given moment.

Neither am I a fanboy. I just like making tunes.

FInally someone who explains ( In a more positive manner than me ) what I’ve tried to say to some people around here that don’t stop complaining and who don’t recognise their own responsability. Who even accuse Elektron of terrible things they absolutly can’t proof. Ofcoarse this is a place where everybody must be able to give her or his opinions and have discussions but I think it’s wrong to blaim others for your own mistakes or to trow around accusations that are based on pure speculation.

…and i would also add this for completeness Elektron IRC! :joy: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I also wish some people would stop complaining about how this or that could be better or when is this or that coming out etc.

When in fact they have probably not even come close to exploring the creative possibilities of the existing box they have. Too many first world problems…

Ofcoarse !
I’m so happy and surprised by all these instruments CAN DO , it’s just fuckin INCREDIBLE !!! For shure for someone of my age. It surpises me that there are no more treads with users who just can’t shut up how happy they are . But i’ve noticed that involves taking the risk of being called a Fanboy. Not that it botheres me -I AM A4 - AK FANBOY !!! . but that seems to be something negative around here;??? :zonked:   :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :alien:
I remember what I had to do only 30 years ago ( witch is nothing in the Sea of Time … ) to have some tracks and synths running - You can’t imagine if you haven’t done that … and we where happy like children - solving problems for hours to have minutes of music.
Now we get all this in a box you can put in a backpack fuckin-hell !!!
No … let’s complain - accuse - etc…

But yeah - NO MACHINE is gonna be creative for you …

I have 2 machines ( A4 - AK ) and the sky is limitless :alien:

Howmany times I’ve read these are weak for Basses. Can you emagine ??? Don’t tell me that you know how to use them if that’s your statement. But maybe it’s the sign of the times as television and all other forms of publicity want to make us believe everything’s can be bought - witch is a big lie ! But if you beleave this - it’s normal to become frustrated and to blame the car and not the driver.
Some even don’t take the time to inform themselves and just presume ( and pre-order ) that these instrumens can do this or that… they fooled themselves but they don’t wanna see this. Explaining this makes them angry …

I’ts ashame that there are more thraeds about what’s gonig to come or not or maybe - and if not then … what other instruments do better…
I come around here to learn from others tricks and knowledge about the THESE BOXES I’m using and to pass my stuff to others … and I love that.
And now I’ve become a complainer too … hha! ha ! :imp:

I came to this forum as a refugee from gearslutz. While there’s a lot of good in that forum (and I don’t want to badmouth it too much), there were a lot of attitudes over there that really managed to push my buttons in all the wrong ways. So much so that I found myself scouring google for the perfect pornographic image in order to insult other users, or spending a day and a half writing a thesis post about everything that I perceived to be wrong or offensive.

That shit gets real tiring. Unfortunately, there’s always going to be whingers on the internet and there’s always going to be people that just have to have the last say. God knows I often fall into the latter category.

Coming to this forum was like a breath of fresh air. Despite all the bickering & negativity of late FROM BOTH SIDES that seems to have enveloped the lead up to OB and subsequently the AR being left out, I feel that there’s still a lot of positivity to be found - as long as you have the discipline to abstain from getting involved in the bitterness. I still see a lot of people helping each other out with problems in various threads, and I’m actually even beginning to feel like I might be part of something here; something that I never seemed to quite get out in the real world.

To be honest I’m not really sure what I’m trying to say. I think a lot of these flare ups/clashes/or whatever you want to call them will die down if we all refuse to feed them. Or at least I hope so. But maybe that also requires letting someone blow off steam on the internet, or let them have the last word. After all, it’s just words on a screen and people are entitled to have an opinion about a purchase they’ve made even if we don’t agree.

Anyway, I think I might take a step back from the forum for a while. But not cos I’m pissed off - I’m really not. I just want to get through my exams so I can spend some quality time with my toys. Maybe by then I’ll have something more worthwhile to contribute. I can’t wait.

Just for the record, I love my AR & OT - I can still remember when such power was unimaginable.

well as you can see from my latest post in the forum I really am trying to get as much info and feedback as i can before I buy. What I really hate about being in spain is the euro and apart from the sun the lack of products in the music shops, its impossible to demo an item prior to purchase unless you know someone with the product already, in this case i dont.

So for me its more or less take it or leave it and just try to watch videos.

Thats’s funny… “I, [insert name], am a refugee from the isle of gearslutz…”

I get what you mean though… I can’t seem to find it now but there was a post on gearslutz a few yrs back by a well respected engineer who stated “I can no longer participate in this forum as it has become a breeding ground for misinformation.” Made me think… Hmmmmm??? Maybe this isn’t the best place for solid advice???

gearslutz that is, this place is great!!!
