Hjernen er aleina (OT, A4, EMX "rock music")

Normally my wife and I make music by just jamming for a bit, do a quick live recording and then upload the result to soundcloud, warts and all. This time, however, we decided to try to do a cover version of a famous norwegian rock song and do it as best we could.

Since both the way of working and the style of music is different to what we usually do, I have a hard time judging how it turned out. Is the mix alright? The vocals acceptable? Does “electronic rock music” like this even make sense?

OT is doing the rhythms, A4 most of the synths and the Electribe bass and the long, flat sounds on some of the quiet sections. A friend of us is playing the Hardanger Fiddle.

Enjoyed this one a lot. :+1:

Jævlig kult! Så gøy å høre!

Nice cover! The mix is good but I’m missing some of the despair from the original in the vocals. They are also monotonous but there is something in them that I feel makes the song somehow, driving it forward:: [url=“https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja2O-9kee_E”]

Thanks for listening and for your comments! Good to know there isn’t something obviously way off in the mix. I’ll consider it done for now, then.

The feedback on the vocals lacking despair has been noted. Thanks for the feedback on it! I don’t think we’re good enough to fix that at the moment, but it’d be fun to have another go at it once we have some more practice/experience singing.

This is great! Much better than the original (if that video linked above is it), though I will allow for the time elapsed since 1989 and a lack of familiarity with…the Norwegian rock tradition being factors in my opinion.

I think your wife has an AMAZING voice. You’re very lucky to have such a great contributor close at hand!
