History & paying your respects

tiB made an interesting point about tipping your hat to Ryan & EU in general on this thread. http://www.elektronauts.com/t/i-am-missing-the-former-spirit-of-elektron-users-com/3539page:5

What do people here think about the idea of having a history tab?

It could have some info on the early Elektron days, the introduction of machines (bit like the timeline on the Elektron site),
the advent of EU & Ryan’s contributions etc.
Key publications like tIBs monomachine tips, Tarekiths contributions, Merlin’s OT guide, pioneering video by Dataline, TrondC, Wesen etc. could all be mentioned/linked/embedded whatever.

We could set a time period for folk here to put fwd ideas on what should be included, you know, what got you into it, what blew you away?

All in all, what I’m suggesting is a comfy chair in front of a roaring fire where infant Elekronauts sit on knees & are entertained by stories of old

EU is fresh in our minds ATM but in years to come…

Nice though.

Maybe just start a thread then it can become a sticky.

Well if people want chip in here about what they feel should be included ill be happy to structure it further down the line.
A sticky would be cool but having a separate section would be my ultimate goal.
I like the idea of newbies coming here & being presented with a history, an evolution if you like. Think it would add a heritage aspect that exists but isn’t apparent & reinforce the community aspect.

I’m all ears

I like this… have terrible memory, and I didnt participate in most of it… but…
liking the idea I do…

Oh yes indeed I’m all for it. Also let’s not forget the great contributions of JSRockit, Papertiger, Steril707. Then the infamous Innerclock timing thread. Love it!
