So I was working on a song today and laying down a hi hat groove and I noticed something was not sounding right.
After a little experimenting I’ve come to realize that no matter the distance between trigs on the CH and OH, the CH is barely audible after an OH trig.
I.e. CH trig on 3, 7, 11, 15
OH trig on 16
Once the sequencer comes back around the CH trig on 3 sounds like crap (half volume and kinda glitchy like its only playing 1/2 the sound).
This only affects the synth sound (samples sound fine). I’ve messed with the envelopes to no avail. As stated earlier, there can be a whole page between the OH and the next CH trig and it still occurs.
Anyone else having this issue? It’s driving me mad😵
Well, I figured it out.
It happens when the CH and OH use different machines.
That’s a bummer. Maybe a fix can be implemented or maybe it’s just the way it is.
I really like using opposing hi hat engines so I pray for the former.
Have you tried recalibrating? I’ve not noticed such a behaviour myself on my unit, and I’m changing the hh machines all the time. Need to double check tho!
I did calibrate when I first updated to the new OS.
I’ll try it again when I get back from my travels. Please let me know if you notice it though.
Correct. Unfortunately this is a hardware limitation; the circuitry that generates the hi hats cannot switch between modes quick enough without audible side effects. Generally, the transient will not sound correct.

A stoopid workaround would be to insert a velo 0 CH trig after the OH sound just to switch the machine before you want the next real CH voice to trig. Will not work in every scenario though.
Good idea! Yeah, not a perfect workaround for all situations but probably for the vast majority.
