I hope this isn’t out of place here but I just started teaching myself some video editing and here is the first thing I came up with. My Octatrack is the star so I figure it is appropriate.
I like your track a lot!
sweeeet!
very appealing to my ears! … the synths are cool… the reverbs are cool… when it goes bass / base low frequency it is VERY nice mastered and EQed !!!
towards the last third of the track there was this snare that sits so very very veeery nice in the mix …
also really liked the triangle that gets 2 slices taken out of it for a second with the ot FX (hardly takes 2 seconds but very cool)
really liked the different ideas of the visuals … low tech, some are high res, then 70ies and 80s … cycling through decades of audio visual advances …
coooool!
how did you do the video fx? winamp milkdrop? let me know , i wanna try something like that…
very inspirational!
good work dude! keep it up … keep em comming!
also really liked the glitches
Nice man. Really liked the visuals too.
The synths had a real wonky ness that I liked. And nice use of the cross fader - most people seem to use it as a bit of a get out of jail for free card - set starting to go off track? Cross fader solo!
Yes great use of what Octatrack can do, with some other gear. Wonderful video too . Thank you!
So the audio was processed through a compressor–>exciter–>limiter. All the eqing was on on the Octatrack itself. The filter effect is really good at getting stuff to sit in the mix.
The visual effects were all gifs I grabbed from various places. Mostly surrogateself.tumblr.com/
and
mrdiv.tumblr.com/. Those guys both use some kind of 3d software to render that stuff with some aftereffects on there too.
Pretty simple stuff, just cuts to and from various gifs with a few video mix effects here and there. I used Magix movie edit because it feels the most like editing audio of any video app I have played with.
You can see the Mopho and Minibrute in the shot. I also have a Matrix6 that is playing the pads and a Voyager that isn’t playing anything in this track.
I like using the crossfader as a way to create drum fills and other one off effects to keep the track interesting. I want it to sound like I automate everything in a DAW. I hate drawing all the automation in Ableton but I love the way it ends up sounding. Octatrack gives instant gratification.
thanks for your answer and links!
Great visuals!
How are they made?
Is there a dedicated software for those visuals or do you need to write (c++, java, whatever) programs for every single theme?
