Hi All,

I finally bought the Octatrack.

I started to sample a few things and everything wokred fine but i guess i somehow pressed the wrong button or I changed a setting and i can’t record a sample anymore.
I connected my A4 to the Input AB and I put the Input level to 127 so i can hear it.

What could be the problem?

Maybe study the manual some more?

And be more specific in formulating your problem! What did you do precisely? What buttons did you press?

Did you read the whole manual front to back? Follow the ‘track recorder sampling’ tutorial on page 130.

While “RTFM” is a mantra to be repeated for most of these sort of queries, when it comes to the OT, I thought it was largely a waste of a tree!

I’ve made a few arses of things and couldn’t sus it out so I just started a fresh project then followed some Youtube examples. Even Elektron’s own tutorials are pretty good. The manual, on the other hand, I found to be pretty difficult.

None of the above helps the OP mind you! Have you muted a track by mistake?

Besides reading the manual, taking time to properly ask a question and provide us with enough details is something that could help the OP.

I disagree about the manual being a complete waste. It’s not the easiest read and certainly could be rewritten and improved, but it does contain most of the answers. I tend to use it as a .pdf and search the manual whenever I run into something.

And like a broken record I keep repeating that certain instruments require time and effort, whilst others are more intuitive. Some instruments are complicated and difficult to master, some require no manual at all. The octatrack requires patience and a good place in a setup/studio/composition to get comfortable with it.

if you read the manual, you will discover lots of things…

like having to lay down a trigger on your sequencer to hear back a sample on playback. You may also read about track solos and mutes, which you may have done by mistake (not sure- your post doesn’t make really anything clear as to what you have or have not done).

By reading the manual more than once (like I did for two weeks) you will definitely discover and be reminded of other things like making sure your recording process and triggering are ok, track volumes are up, effects such as filters aren’t preventing you from hearing anything, or any other myriad of options the OT gives you that may make it seem that you can’t “record a sample anymore.”

i am on the OT for a week now, must say following the elektron OT tutorials covered how to resample inputs …

my advice just follow the tutorial step by step and then get back to us, with a more detailed question, okay?

(maybe its cue out vs headphone out issue)

Hi

thanks for all the replies.
I started to read the manual from the beginning and i watched the elektron videos. which are really helpful.
So far I also find the manual not so helpful and reading 190 pages isn’t that tempting but i guess thats what you have to do if you want to make progress on it.

I remember a recorded a sample from my A4 and put the filter on top. In a sudden i couldn’t hear the sample anymore.
I guess i accidently muted the track. How can I unmute the track?
I think it is more like i mute all tricks or something.

had a similar problem yesterday, turned out i had the LFOs messed up… so hitting the flo button AND pressing clear, will RESET the settings of the effect page …

mute unmute track by fn+track 1 (or the other tracks)
