Howdy, I was having a similar problem as OP, pattern changes would work on new patterns but not ones i had already made. I realized it had nothing to do with midi, but the scale of the pattern (func+page) I had gotten into the habit of setting them all to an infinite pattern length. Handy for when you’re only working with one pattern, but it will never jump to the next one, because the pattern has no end. This also seems to trip up when the pattern length are different on each device doing some weird polyrhythm scale thing, causing patterns to change “late” or get out sync.
so check your pattern lengths!
(idk about connecting to other gear tho)
