Help with brassy timing

Ok so I have these brassy synth chord stabs that start on the first beat. thing is they have some filter env attack which makes them all sound a little late. As far as I can figure out my only options are either putting a bar or blank pattern before and then using microtiming to nudge them forward (err… in time, backward in seq steps), or adjusting start point of sample and live with the first one being chopped off at the start. The stabs are sequenced via the mpc, before being sampled into ot.

bit of a long shot, and sort of one those, well don’t use pattern sequncers, kind of situations, but hey never hurts to ask.

The other problem is that these are coming from ipolysix on ipad and the latency is pretty bad. so either way I will have to trigger sampling manually and retrim.

any help or even just confirmation that I haven’t missed something obvious is greatly appreciated.

I’d record myself triggering it in slices mode if it’s a loop, slots if its a one shot. If the sample has some FX on it that make it way off even when you play it in, you either crop it down or find a new sample =).

Or just edit in the computer and then transfer it to the OT. I use Adobe Audition to clean up things that are messing with my timing in the OT- but you can just download Audacity for free. Sometimes the way a sample is recorded makes it tough to get that exact sweet spot you imagine.

thanks, ill try trigging it slot or slices mode. the thing I’m concerned about is that since I have to trigger it early that when played back it won’t sound until it reaches the end of the pattern. but we’ll see. thnx!
