thanks a lot guys!!! it works!! i just have to get some cables in order to let the audio of the 3 machines come out from the speakers and i m fine :)) (at the moment i put the left speaker on the st and the right on the typhon
According to your experience would you use dn or st as main?
You mean master Clock? I said DN master, but both are possible.
Concerning audio, DN can treat the 2 inputs individually, ST can’t (Dual mono is possible, but parameters are common). So I’d plug DN in ST, so that you’d be able to add a mono source to DN.
Hi, I have a Syntakt and a Typhon, and am looking to get a digitone maybe.
For Syntakt and Typhon only, I would connect Typhon audio OUT (two 1/4" jacks) into Syntakt IN. I would connect Syntakt OUT (two 1/4" jacks preferably, or headphone out if necessary) to the speakers. I would set Syntakt midi OUT to Typhon midi IN. You can use a Syntakt midi track to control the Typhon.
I would leave it at that until you understand, and then connect the Digitone as you like.
I would recommend for audio you go Typhon -> Digitone -> Syntakt - all using quarter inch cables (4 cables in total), and then Syntakt to the speakers as above. Syntakt at the end of the chain would work better because it has a nice FX block you can run things through.
Midi for all three depends how you want to control the Typhon. Either Syntakt as the master (so no midi input) or Digitone as the master (so no midi input) would work.
Good luck and have fun.
Edit: also, every new pattern you have to make sure that the Syntakt’s mixer is letting the Typhon’s audio in. Hit Func-LFO x3 to get the external audio mixer, and turn the external audio to maximum.
i actually did the opposite: st out in typhon in and i dedicated one of the 12 patterns to the typhon and it works well coz programming a bassline with st is way easier the using the typhon.
but as the dn has a poliphonic sequencer i think is much better to use that as main
Do what makes you happy. I did suggest Syntakt midi out to Typhon midi in so you can control Typhon from Syntakt. That’s what I do too.
However you might not realise, but Typhon audio input is MONO (left channel only), so you really don’t want Syntakt audio in to go that way. Try to have the audio from Typhon to Syntakt.
It is probably overwhelming, but it is important to separate midi flow (flow of control/notes) and audio flow (flow of sound) in your head. Control flow from syntakt to typhon and audio flow from typhon to syntakt is likely to be best.
In the GLOBAL FX/MIX menu, you can select several parameter pages whose parameters will (when selected) act on a global level instead of on a pattern level. Then the parameter’s settings on that page will not only affect the active pattern but will also affect all the other patterns in the project. The parameters text/ value graphics are then inverted. Use the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] keys to select or deselect the parameter pages you wish to function on a global level. For more information, please see “13. FX PARAMETERS” on page 59.
yes this is what i did, i control typhon from the syntakt. i placed in pattern 1 and it works great actually; annoying thing is that the keyboard of syntakt is not polyphonic but for the rest is great
regarding adding the digitone i’ll try to go with the setup suggested by @sezare56
