I’ve searched all over (forums and OT manual) and have no idea why my OT is not recording as expected. It is recording for LONGER than I want it to. I realize the irony here as this is the exact opposite of most people’s problems of the OT not recording long enough due to memory, etc.
It is recording (what looks like) 32 steps, even though I have set RLEN to 16 in the Recording Setup Menu. I would like to avoid the audio editor to trim the sample after the fact because the intention is to dynamically capture the audio in 16 steps exactly so that I can use it right away in another pattern+part.
Context:
Track 1 is a Thru track, taking in audio from external mixer.
Track 2 is Neighbor track to add more onboard effects.
Pretty straightforward - I want the audio signal that leaves Track 2 to record in RECORD BUFFER 2.
i.e. Audio source = Track 2; Destination = REC BUF 2
‘Per Track’ turned on in Pattern Settings menu.
Track 2 (neighbor track):
Scale Track is 16/16
Master Length set to 16
Tempo Multiplier set to 1x
Master Scale set to 1x
One-shot recorder trig on 1st trig in (recording) sequencer (of Track 2). When you hold that trig down, only the MIDI (SRC3) is lit red (I turned off AB, CD buttons - I just want the sound that comes out of the neighbor track - T2).
Recording setup for track 2:
AB = -
CD = -
SRC3 = T2
RLEN = 16
TRIG = ONE
Loop = OFF
Any ideas on this one? It seems very unusual.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Unusual indeed.
Try with a new project without Per Track.
Your settings seem ok but there can be something with multipliers different from 1, because recorder don’t care about scales. LEN with be as if it was 1.
Check Rec Setup 2 Qrec too.
Just so you know once you get this working, you can access the recorder buffers in the flex list and place them in patterns before you even record into them, no need to save, open the editor, or do anything. You just record and the new recording will play on any trigs/patterns that trig it…
Should work fine on a new project, not sure what’s happening on your current one. You can try going to the attributes section of the audio editor for the buffer and “clear slot” and try again. This generally is not needed at all in between recording but sometimes can help if things got messed up…
Your sure all your tempo multipliers are at 1x, maybe even check track 1. Rlen is always the equivalent of 1x scale so if for some reason it’s recording at 2x 16 steps will look like 32…
RLEN sets the duration of the recording once the track recorder starts to sample. This setting is dependent of the BPM of the sequencer but disregards any scale settings of the track.
So, just to recap… the problem is not happening any more. When I powercycled the MKI, everything magically worked fine again. I’m thinking I hit a bug, though it is difficult to reproduce it.
