HELP: Controlling multiple VSTs with Digitakt (Ableton)

I’m having some difficulty using separate MIDI tracks on the Digitakt to control separate VSTs (and, for that matter, multiple instances of the same VST) on Ableton. It only seems to be able to produce sound from one VST instance at once.

I drag and drop a VST, set up track 9/MIDI A on the Digitakt, set the MIDI channel to 1 and set the “MIDI from” for the VST to Digitakt/Channel 1. This works perfectly.

Then, I do the same thing with a second VST, using track 10/MIDI B on the Digitakt, setting it to channel 2, and setting the VST’s “MIDI from” setting on Ableton to Digitakt/Channel 2. What happens now is that I can play/sequence this second VST, but the first VST cuts out - there’s no more sound. There IS, however, MIDI data coming into the VST from channel 1 - because the little light that says it’s receiving data is still flitting about… it’s just that there’s no longer any sound.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? My guess is that I’m doing something daft, but I’m completely lost.

Many thanks in advance!

I don’t know ableton live but maybe there is something to fix here. Your DT setup looks OK.

My guess is that you have to set the MIDI channels to “In” or arm them all for recording in order to hear all of them at the same time or have you done this?

That did the trick! Thank you so much, you have just made my Digitakt about twenty times as fun.

Sorry to bounce up an old topic, but I’m running into the exact same problem in Logic. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?
