Headphone Audio

Very new to this product, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why my headphones will not work. I’m using my Sony WH-1000XM4 with an adapter and turned the audio up to 100. It’s very faint but I can hear something. When I have the adapter halfway in I can hear the audio more clear. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Can you show us a picture of your adapter? I don’t remember if a new user can post pictures, though.

Hi, maybe this headphone volume HP MAX mentioned in this older post might help, however if at all possible, try a different headphone adapter before you get too deep into troubleshooting.

Good luck

Might sound stupid but are you sure you’ve connected it to the headphone out rather than the L or R ?

The ‘it being quiet unless I have it half pulled out’ sounds a lot like you are going into a balanced socket (L/R) with a stereo destination, (headphones)

Well funny thing is if I do plug into the “L” or “R” I can hear quite well in my headphones on the left or the right depending on which one I’m plugged into.

I will read these today. Thanks!

It was all the same topic which I do recommend looking at, but it’s just 1 link. I accidentally posted the first part of the link twice, but I just now fixed it.

I just wanted to show that in the situation noted, the suggested fix worked for them. Hopefully it’s that easy for you too, and no problem.

I have one of those screw on adapters like that for my AKG headphones and it doesn’t work properly with some other cables. My Sony headphone cable doesn’t like it at all, and it looks like your Sony cable does not have the threading to match the adapter so if you’re still having issues, I would definitely try a more generic, standard headphone adapter than the one which you currently have.

It’s not the good adapter, it got to be screwed

What has been said, wrong adapter.

I own a couple of these style adaptors:

Same deal as the gold jack style, but the flexible but short cable brings a layer of extra convenience and useful extra cable length. I know the one linked is discontinued but finding something similar ought to be easy enough.

I spoke with the place I order it from and they’re sending me a pack of adapters.
