Watching that video reminded me of a time a mate of mine invited half a dozen or so of the guys round for drinks before the football. We’re all well oiled with the tunes blaring and he goes “oh, let me put on this great album”. So we let him get on with it and what he put on wasn’t a kick in the arse away from the video clip above. The guys and I listen politely, each thinking something along the lines of “what the fuck is this shit” then after about 3 or 4 minutes, by chance all caught each others eyes, burst out laughing and told my mate to get a grip and get some proper tunes on! Well, that and making him down 2 or 3 shots as punishment.

I just don’t get it!

Smoke a spliff and listen to his 2013 album “Excavation” on headphones, and you might get it more. The split he did with doom metal band The Body (“I Shall Die Here”) earlier this year is one of my favorite albums of 2014.

It’s definitely not for everyone, and I imagine most people around here prefer their music a bit more beat driven. I think he sounds a bit like if Coil and Sunn O))) had worked together.

I totally dig the Haxan Cloak. Last year’s album on headphones is a thrilling experience in raw sound. I never put in on when I have friends over but for listening to it alone it’s really great.
