Guru insights on YouTube OT monotonous video

This looks fun. Can anyone explain the process in a little more detail than the YouTube blurb? I’ve had way too little time with my OT since I got it but wanna try this kind of stuff out with a few pieces of hardware next time I’m on it.

Are his track patterns pre-sequenced with the melodic/arp kind of stuff on trigs etc preprogrammed, and then he’s simply replacing the track default sample each time he resamples? With each track automatically using the new sample? Looking forward to learning/understanding more about this side of the machine.

not offering insights as such - but i’m guessing that ‘monotron’ got spell-checked into ‘monotonous’ in your title - plus, the ‘guru’ works for Elektron in case you weren’t aware - good to see these vids where the elektron sampler is sampling, all his vids are excellent

I guess specifically I’m asking how I’d set up the recording trig for something like this? And I guess I’d have all tracks’ ‘default sample’ set to the same rec buffer right?

Ha, yeah annoying spellcheck strikes again…
Interesting to know the guy works for elektron. It’s one of the more interesting videos I’ve seen. By far not the most complex but it looks like something I’d be in to using OT for.

you could set up the recording trig to replace a sample at every pass of the record trig - or you could use a one shot record trig and occasionally re-arm - or just manually record to that buffer as shown
i really like the concept of using one live capture across all tracks and resampling, especially with something loose like the monotron

if you want to run through the ins and outs of sampling it’s time to hit the manual/forum/tutorial vids
.
in this instance the recording length, rlen, is probably set very short &or the amp env is shaping the sample

When I get round to trying it I think I’ll first try the option of ‘manually record to buffer as shown’, seems more organic for some reason.
I read the manual pretty thoroughly but I’ve had barely 3 hours with OT in past week since and everything that sank in before is kinda flaky again now! Will retread a few chapters next time I’m able to be hands on with OT.
Agreed, one fluid live capture sample that’s shared across all tracks from something like monotron really appeals to me. Glad I stumbled on the video.
