Didn’t see a thread for this already and have some questions so thought why not create one.
was trying to use Riffer as a midiFX (sending midi notes to the next layer) send it CCs to change the pattern/preset but can’t see any way to define an automate-able knob for midiFX. anyone know a way to achieve this?
anyone know of a way to speed up drum kit creation? asis I have to import files, select each pad sound one by one then rename them all as well. I have lots of kit audio files named & grouped ready to go but it will take a lot of time making them all this way
in general loving the app tho, great work JimAudio! ![]()
excited to try with a LP soon
I’ve found using Koala as AUv3 for this in GR2 being much quicker and easier.
Will have a go with Koala, thx for the suggestion

For ready-made kits ?
yES! Just figured out if you are using a midi sequencer on a track you can long press an empty clip to ‘Print Midi’ (RTFMFTW)
So nice when a solution to the issue shows itself. ![]()
Doesn’t exactly solve not being send midi to change patterns in Riffer but instead I can just print midi in a long clip and jam out changing Riffer along the way
New issue, crashing often when shift dragging a clip to duplicate ![]()
Am using iPad Pro m2 so assume it shouldn’t be HW related. Maybe the auv3s? Anyone getting crashing while duplicating clips?
Also am realizing I miss having some easy way to one press adjust zoom to current pattern length (at least I didn’t find a way so far)
If you haven’t already I would say post on the fka Audiobus forum now LoopyProForum. Very active site and helpful members who are quick to reply.
can you add more than 2 fx return channels?
But that would defeat the point of having a dedicated Groove Rider 2 (yes they are separate words) topic right here on Elektronauts!
[Edit: though the devs for the upcoming iOS release of Unfiltered Audio’s Battalion are much more responsive here than on the Loopy Pro forum, so go figure.]
Groove Rider 2 is pretty groovy. I might even hook up my LPpro3 to it soon. Super groovy.
Not sure how your ready made kits are setup so it may mean setting them up again in Koala (so added work you might not want to do). If you have them numbered in the name (i.e. 1-Kick / 2-Snare etc…) then when you drag and drop a group of samples into koala, they will always go into the same pad. (I always use koala in landscape, so numbering is different order).
You can set them up in standalone koala then open the project in GR2.
I haven’t used the drum rack in GR2, cos like you said it’s a lot of work as you have to do each sample individually.
Battalion seems to some extent be inspired by the Rytm, so I can see why!
Anyone know if there’s a test flight link/seat available?
I’ve asked Jim @GR2 a couple of times but he never specifically responded to this (the asks were in longer emails - so he did reply back but not specifically to this ask) - so he may not have one or it could be super private.
the official manual has been updated to reflect software version 1.1.4
(including new chapters about Launchpad X & Launchpad Mini mk3 intergration).
regarding TestFlight: i’ve asked about joining and he explicitly told me that he does not have beta testers at all.
«this would slow down my workflow a lot», said he.
What’s new in version 1.2.0:
- Introducing support for the legendary Akai APC40 mkII midi controller! Brief instructions on the device:
- Press SESSION button to navigate between Sound, Clips and Mixer page
- Press clips to launch or stop clips
- Press Scene buttons to launch specific clip scene
- Press SHIFT + clip button to instantly open it in the Clip Editor
- Hold down SHIFT button and double press any empty clip button to create new empty clip
- Use four arrow buttons to browse the clip grid in all directions
- Use Cue knob to scroll the clip grid along X and Y (with SHIFT) directions
- You can also assign Cue knob to work as a Relative type Midi CC instead of scroller from the Settings → APC40 mkII menu
- Hold down SENDS button to switch between Send A mode (press Track 1) and Send B mode (press Track 2)
- Hold down USER button to switch between User CC mode (press Track 1) and Part Level mode (press Track 2)
- Use DEVICE and BANK arrow buttons to select a device with knobs to control
- Use DEVICE LOCK button to prevent chosen device from being deselected or switched
- Some devices can be turned on/off by DEV ON/OFF button (example: IFX devices, AUv3 devices)
- DETAIL VIEW button toggles corresponding views on the central GR-2 display for some devices
- CLIP/DEV VIEW button, REC ARM and A/B track buttons have no effect as they do not have a dedicated function yet
- BANK button enables clip grid to be scrolled by pages (instead of clip by clip)
- Use Crossfader when you’re in the Pattern Cross Mixer window to transition between patterns (it controls the Mix fader)
- Track faders can be set to Jump mode, Catch mode or entirely switched off from the Settings → APC40 mkII menu
- User CC knobs (8 track knobs when the USER button is enabled) are set to Absolute type Midi CC by default, but can be changed to Relative type Midi CC from the Settings menu
- Other functions work similar to how APC40 works with Ableton Live
- Other fixes and improvements:
- All the Launchpad and APC40 related settings were moved into two separate sub menus of the Settings page with the new dedicated icons;
- When importing midi clips into the Drum Rack part, the clip is now automatically converted to be played by Drum Rack;
- Arpeggiator and Groove knobs (on the Part Parameters page) can now be midi learned;
- Added an option to change double tap speed to a slower one in the Settings → General → System → Double Tap Speed;
- Fixed: incorrect recognition of absolute/relative midi CC types during the Midi Learn;
- Launchpad’s “MIDI” Port is now automatically connected as a midi source without occupying the GR-2 Midi Input Port;
- Fixed: after moving the Layer left/right, the recorded AUv3 automation on that Layer stopped working and showed “No Name”;
- Fixed: On Launchpads. When changing pattern, fader colors were not correct unless you reenter the mixer mode;
- Fixed: No Undo for recording external midi notes;
- Other minor bug fixes.
I’m sold……)
