They’re both 64 bit ARM processors, a generation apart from different manufacturers. It doesn’t seem very relevant, and function wise probably is of at best secondary importance to the differences between those two systems.
I think it does matter, because there is an ecosystem around writing and designing audio products for the pi SOC and I don’t know of any companies using the nxp SOC. The fact that they have both have arm processors is like saying a playstation and a pc tower are basically the same because they both use x86.
Good i didn’t say that.
Back to topic.
You did though. But OK.
Can we stay on topic please.
Here’s something on topic and fun: the firmware roadmap was recently updated and the 1.12 update will focus on additive synthesis ![]()
Interesting to consider what all that will turn out to be.
Other steps along the way on their road map :
1.9: December ’26. MIDI, focus on getting the most out of the popular MPE controllers.
1.10: February ’27. Slice mode & multi-samples
1.11: April ’27. Templates & ethernet
1.12: July ’27. Additive synthesis
One thing that would pique my interest would be a bit more protection from corruption. I’ve had to reflash my GR-1 a few times cos I sometimes forget to shut it down cleanly.
