OP’s issue seems to be with using the Google Play store, not hardware or OS.
But maybe one that’s resolved, the cheap tablet hardware will become the next issue!

Yes, right now the exclusive Google Play Store is treating me like a 12yr old girl who wants to join the Freemasons.
I already printed out my return shipping papers for this tablet and will probably just get my $100 back and end up giving someone a free $25 play store code.

I think that this is the right idea. Upside, you’ve already got a last minute gift for someone sorted out already.

i got a chromebook for making music, don’t succeed to work on a smartphone, not my taste & it works great (chrome os similar to android), unless your gear is class compliant, it’s all good, it got koala, fruity loops, cubasis, espi 12…& soundcard works great, controller works great, exporting samples to model samples works semi great but it works

You got to record your bank card on the Google store, you can retire it later

I tried, hence the 6 digit security code which I received as 1 digit, thus forcing me to submit a form proving my identity which may or may not be approved within 2 days which have already passed with no answer

if i remember , you got to accept to download immediately with no turnback
No such option was given to me. I even tried adding my bank account directly and I get this:
I click the link and there’s a list of error codes with descriptions but is my error code on the list? As you may have guessed - No, no it is not.

all your application is up to date? you got a google account? your device is compatible?
Yes, yes and yes
I’ll just wait a few more days and see if I get any emails
I appreciate the thoughts and advice here
Please do.
Know what else is a fucking clownish piece of rubbish? The Amazon Fire… I bought my Mom one during covid as I didn’t have the duckets for an iPad for her and I read that’s what seniors use. Well, she kept texting me how she couldn’t get it to do the internet and I blamed her (in my mind) until I tried to use the thing. Wow. It must be from the same janky galaxy as the POS galaxy. I think she uses it as a tea tray now.

I saw this morning that they re-issued a 4g sidekick at some point but I guess that didn’t go well… maybe it was a year or so too early as I could see it being a hit with those who weren’t living during the Paris Hilton reign yet look towards that era of pop culture decrepitude for fashion cues.
On the subject- I’ve been looking for a cheap “netbook” like Acer use to make around 2006 just to use for word processing but with a version of Word loaded that doesn’t need a subscription. Anyone happen to have a cheap/reliable recommendation?
Well, I think their Curve was sort of geared towards that but didn’t do well. I had one and it broke or just found it sort of useless after a few months of use.

Android is just wrong platform for that.
if you manage to purchase some apps, prepare for huge latencies that render the whole thing hardly usable.
