Anybody ever find a use for the “empty machine” which “consists of basically nothing at all”?

it still has LFO

lots. it doesn’t make a sound on its own but can still contribute in other ways. a few ideas:

  • its LFO is useful for aiming at other tracks
  • it can mute another track at just the right moment
  • set it to trig another track and keep it muted until you want a few extra hits from that track
  • you can set its filter to settings you like, then with Func+tweak it becomes like CTR-All, but starting from specific values rather than the defaults

That would make sense i guess. Can’t say I remember using the LFO of a blank track…

Love how it was communicated. Going to check on that RN…

Ah yes thats awesome, fills for one track.

The start CTR-ALL from certain points idea is nice too. I usually just pick a track that won’t get too loud and tweak the filter or whatever param prior to FUNC+ tweak to begin from a certain point, can be a nice subtle lead in just before the FUNC+tweak…

Would have been sweet for the nothing machine to mute/trig as many tracks as you want,
would not be easy to program I am guessing.

Using it as a global gate would be a crazy/fun effect.

Clearly it is more usefull doing it with monomachine, but you can use a gnd machine’s filter to make kicks via the resonant filter technique

Sorry, I was wrong, you have to use a sin machine to make it. The filters in gnd do not self oscillate

Seems good for empty music.
I’ll have my MD tonight !

Yes yes, empty with such fullness. HeHa

I want to try using a “GND—” to mute other tracks with trigs on about half the steps in a somewhat random pattern and switching between the track being muted fairly quickly… would get some crazy results…especially having the BPM x 2…

With the MiniCommand having off set mutes would be neat too.

This has become general MDUW talk a bit, but I really hope they put out another machine with 16 (stackable) LFO’s…

It’s quite useful for 4’33" covers

Ok, in KIT > EDIT !
Now I understand the Relate purpose.
I was a bit afraid of MD’s complexity, but comming from OT, it seemed very familiar, I think I understood the main things in a few hours.
(Very perplex with the Classic mode though. No option to avoid it?)

classic mode can be used for some cool tricks. I’ve used it before with trigs hidden with p-locks of volume, then you can reveal them with a quick switch to classic. A bit like the fill condition.
