i guess there already is a thread about this strange anomaly on the Rytm but i was not able to find it so i need to create a new one right now. If there is such a thread already and one could solve the problem please let me know and close this one here. Thanks!
Ok, now to the problem: When i activate/deactivate Scenes or when i switch between them, i always get some glitches and/or artifact if i dont hit exactly on the step. As an example i want you to have a listen to the following track i did as a practice jam on the Rytm:
As you can see and hear: Everytime i change a scene there or activate/deactivate it you can hear artifacts at the very moment of the Scene Change / Activation / Deactivation. At first i thought this is a random issue but i just fired up my Rytm again today and noticed this again!!
Can you tell me how i can solve this issue? Im not perfectly tight at jamming and i also dont want to be because it sounds better if it’s not MIDI-Clip-DAW-tight
Can’t really help you as I’ve noticed the same. I did want to say that’s one of my favorite rtym jams on youtube. I was curious what samples you used and how you got that melody so tight…using chromatic mode I can’t get good notes like yours.
I’m listening on laptop speakers and not immediately hearing the glitches you’re referring to. But based on what you’ve described, I assume it’s just a function of an immediate parameter change occurring while a note is still sounding.
This does give me the idea for a cool feature request, though. It would be nice to have a definable glide/slew time for scene changes. Anything from immediate to a bar (or however) long, and ideally different for each scene. This would really expand the expressiveness of scenes (though in Elektron’s eyes, it might bring scenes and performances even closer together).
Yeah I think it’s just timing. I mean, being a tenth of a second off is enough to cause an audio glitch. We cut samples to the zero crossing to avoid this, so it makes sense that not being perfectly on time when changing scenes would cause a glitch. It probably also has something to do with the gain amping up so quickly. It would be better if scenes could turn trigs on/off instead of having to use the AMP volume for tracks.
Another fix could be the option to have quantized scenes.
Hey man Again, thanks for that I mainly used samples from Niche Audio’s excellent “Prima Tech House” and “Deep Tone” Libraries. They are amazing. And i used the Chromatic Mode on the Chord-Samples - it worked! Maybe you are off with your Pitches when you try it and could not get it tight? I really had no problems on my side.
Yeah and as for the Glitches: You must be right guys, i tested it again! If you are perfectly tight - DAW tight - you cant hear anything no matter how much parameters you change. But if you are a bit off it starts to glitch. And this even applies to the samples - and even more worse - also to Samples only if you turned off the Analog Engine completely. Damn, this is annoying! It never happens when in Performance mode though. Kinda obvious as parameter changes occur slowly there …
Quantizing Scene Changes were an amazing feature i must absolutely agree with this !!! I will try to find a way to get around this problem in the next days. If i find anything useful i will post in here again so that others may be able to profit from this as well. But i have a bad feeling … somehow
