I wanted to tell you a story, and maybe give you an idea with the holidays approaching.
If you can, I strongly encourage you to write a song as a gift.
It’s not expensive, and can be something cherished for years. Could be for a friend, a family member, or even that girl or boy your trying to impress!
Here’s the story. I love my mother, and she’s amazing. For her 80th birthday she asked to me write her a waltz.
A “waltz, yuck!” I thought, then while listening to examples, I realized that when I was 10 we got a piano and I tried to play it. I played the same thing over and over, and yep it was a waltz. So I decided to use that as the basis of the “Moon Gift Waltz”.
Now the other touch I did was that I made a wooden music box, by uploading the song, and when she opened the box it started playing.
I won’t share the movie of her crying with joy (too personal), but I will share the track.
To her it’s perfect, and we can all pick apart the mastering and composition, but it won’t change the fact that she thinks I’m the greatest musician alive 
And I’ll admit that when your mom thinks that, it’s a pretty damn good feeling.
