Getting wound up...pls help sync MD and OT

trying to be able to play OT and MD live together which should be simple but im getting some issues and I feel like Ive tried everything and nothing gets it quite right. its a little complicated but here goes:

When changing ‘songs’ on the OT the PART changes and that holds the PROG info to change the MD’s PAT. except it cues it 1 bar late, which is no good when using 4 bar PAT.

To overcome this I can use a Midi note on OT to start a PAT on the MD at the right time using the MAP EDITOR. However when tempos are syncd then any TRIGS on the first step of the PAT on the MD sound like their being trigged twice and its really noticable.

It seems though with some PATS on MD you can get away with no SyNC between machine and just setting the BPM the same. This fixes the glitched first TRIG… However for some reson their are cirtain PATS this does not work with and the timing goes wayward…

Hopefully someone out there can show me what im missing…

Same thing for me, pity 'cos it seems the most simple way to sync octa and MD…

The way that worked for me (I don’t do it anymore) was to set program change send on in the OT sync menu and receive on in the MD settings. Then the MD will follow the patterns of the OT and you don’t even need to dial the program changes per part yourself.

The downside is that OT pattern A1 will always change the MD to A1 and so on, so you can’t combine them quite as freely as you might want to.

(I assume by sync you mean you want the MD pattern change to be slaved to the OT. Other than that, syncing the tempo and transport should be easy?)

but the pattern changes with program numbers start 1 bar late, thereby killing a 4 bar loop

I think I have used this method successfully. I’ll have to check tonight; it’s been a while.
