I recently got a Rytm to accompany my A4. I’ve now synched them by sending Rytm clock and transport to A4 and also audio out from Rytm going into Ext.In on A4.
All good so far but I was wondering if people have any tips or tricks on how to get the most out of this connection both for live and studio situations?
For example one thing that that is a bit of an issue is that if you switch patterns or banks on the A4 the VOL of Ext.In goes back to zero and you loose the Rytm audio.
Another thing is I would like to be able to mute pads on the Rytm without affecting the tracks of the A4. Is this possible by modifying the midi settings?
If you’re losing the audio of the AR then I think you need to take a look at how your kits are set up - ie. make sure they are all saved and ready for external audio. You should be able to plough through patterns and banks without losing the input from the AR.
Your mute point is absolutely possible but not sitting in front of things so not able to help! I think the easy way would be to turn off the midi on the pad outputs in midi settings (ie track 1 midi = nil, and so on)
Pads on the Rytm can be set to transmit Internal External or both
Also A4 can be set to respond (or not) to midi notes externally
You’d need to configure the kits associated with all the patterns you cue to take the audio through at the same level
The general point has been discussed in various forms but I think the pair are the best two to link together as they’re structured the same way … if you cranked the A4 up and kept the AR kits modest you may get more joy wiring i/o the other way
