Thanks for the suggestions I’ll definitely look into it.
Wow that braids module sounds bananas! Exactly what I’m looking for in sound.

Do you think something like the DPO just on its own would be interesting and flexible enough for a 5th voice if you use the envelope out of the A4 and no filter?

This one too and many others no doubt, http://www.intellijel.com/eurorack-modules/cylonix-shapeshifter/

Nice one sounds dope!

Yes. I’d add a simple VCA or a filter wilt a built-in VCA (MI Ripples), but you can also use the FX channel on your A4 for gate duties if needed.

Has anyone mentioned the Intellijel Atlantis yet? http://www.intellijel.com/eurorack-modules/atlantis/

Is the alantis modeled after the sh 101?

Yes, it’s pretty much an extended and enhanced 101.
Same here. I’m UK based and the options are limited. Shipping cases from the US is prohibitively expensive, due to shipping costs and import duties and VAT and PO handling fees !
If transportability isn’t important to you, then I reckon the best value case is Doepfer’s LC9 – just over 200 quid from Thomanns (inc. free shipping) for 3 rows of 84hp. And with a coat of varnish/paint, they look okay.
There’s also the LC3 and LC6 if you don’t want the ‘temptation’ of 3 empty rows.

But come on, 200 squid for a freakin box ?
You can buy a little shity synth for that.
(sorry maybe I should start a new thread)

If* I was going modular i’d be tempted to start with a variation on something like this…
*‘If’… it’s inevitable isn’t it

It’s a bargain.
The LC9 includes a decent psu, 6x 84 hp rails, and 3x power distribution boards. If you add up the cost of these items alone, it comes to about the same as the LC9. So the LC9’s ‘box’ is essentially free.
Alternatively, have a look at TipTop Audio’s Happy Ending Kit.
Thanx guys, some great info there. But I really wish you hadn’t got me thinking about getting into the money sucking world of modual again .
Back on topic, the Mutable “Anushri” is an amazing sounding analog synth. With cv, audio in, and drums (on a seperate output). I built a second one cos I was so impressed (and I enjoy building diy kits).

I’ve never bothered with CV. I don’t understand the sudden craze for it.
CV died out because Midi come along and was considered superior.
Why is everyone into CV again?
I have a Vermona DRM1 with the CV trigger option. Mono Evolver with CV in/Out, Waldorf Q with CV in and a little phatty with the CV /Gate outputs.
What am I missing by just using midi?

The point is not the CV, the point is the modular.

The nice thing of CV is that the “per channel” bandwidth is much higher than MIDI and that in most cases there’s no difference between audio or CV which allows for all kinds of interesting routing and patching.
You can’t send audio-rate modulation signals over MIDI, you can send them over CV.
It’s not a matter of better or worse, it’s a matter of both being different tools that are great for different jobs.

Sry I realised after I posted, I was a bit off topic.
Hmm interesting. I am looking at a spare patch bay here and wondering what the possibilities could be for a “plug and Play” CV setup.

I use the Mono Lancet with mine. Two synths that complement eachother very well and that I won’t ever get rid of.
Only downside with the Lancet is the need to make a breakout box for CV. Makes it a bit clunky compared to units with onboard sockets, especially now in the Compact Age.
I don’t mind the name, the boomstar synths are awesome, however, they are pricey…in the respect that if I want the Moog style filter…for the money I might as well buy a Moog…out of the boomstar line I would be looking at one of the other models…I mean if I had the money I would take the whole line…but you know what I mean.[/quote]
I agree. I probably would not have been able to pull the trigger on the Boomstar if I had not found a new/ b-stock Boomstar on Ebay. I am glad I did. As I am integrating the B* more into my set up I am realizing how diverse and usable it is. And although it has the Moog style filter it does have its own voice which is very different than the Moogs I have tried.
