Is there a way to do this?
I love the gated reverb through the FX Block using amp envelopes but sometimes it confuses me and gets complicated when sequencing the Block with various machines going through it.
I’m wondering if there is another way to achieve the same effect, like how do people do it on the DT? Maybe they can’t, I dunno….
Side note - I found it confusing that adjusting the depth of the FX block amp env on the gated reverb routed into it doesn’t do anything, but adjusting the level parameter just below that, on the same page, is a good way to tweak the depth of the effect.
You can sequence the reverb volume directly, with lock trigs, or 1-shot LFOs (lock trig with LFO T = on on the trig page) to shape the volume envelope of the reverb.
On DT, send a snare to reverb, resample, and gate the resample.
Thanks, will try that. I thought I had and the tails kept ringing but I’m going to try again (without routing reverb into fx block, in that case)
By lock trigs you mean just p-lock the next trig with the send level all the way down, correct?
No, I mean in the FX track, you can place lock trigs to change the reverb volume directly, no need to route anything through the FX block. Reverb sends from the tracks themselves can stay up, and the FX track can silence the reverb even when it’s not routed through the block.

Oh damn, that took me a second but I see what you’re saying. That’s dope.
I still find the darn FX block signal flow confusing. The reverb parameter in the FX block is sending to the reverb from the FX block, right?
I’ve watched every tutorial and read the manual but I’m still not sure of the best practices for routing the reverb into the FX block vs not. Your help has definitely made me understand that certain unlockable reverb parameters are in fact lockable from the FX block sequencer, which is awesome. Up till now I was just using it for static drive.
Actually, earlier tonight (based on another post here), I was routing reverb into the FX block and locking the hold and decay of the amp envelope in there to achieve gating. Not sure of what makes for best workflow/what unintended consequences the two different gating techniques may produce.
