Gain staging basics, advice needed. ST->DT

Hi guys, I could really use some basic advice concerning gain staging.
My setup is Syntakt audio into DT.

Signal flow is as follows, as I understand it.
ST: AmpVol -> TrackVol (Int.Mixer)-> Main Volume -> DT: Ext.Mixer -> Master Compressor -> Master Volume
(btw: Why are the knobs -top left- on ST (MainVol.) and DT (MasterVol.) differently named?)

I really struggle to get somewhat consistent levels across tracks and patterns between ST and DT.
Any hint for some basic configurations of the seperate values, as a starting ground, would be greatly appreciated.

You could use a VU meter and even out the bassdrums on all patterns, then adjust all the other sounds to that.
Thats what I do.

Alright, thanks for the tipp. I’ll give that a try.

Also, maybe to specify more what my question was about: I’d like to know which of the named parameters are more of the ‘set and forget’-type and which I should fiddle around with and ‘adjust to taste’.
