Fx led question

Yo! Having a problem with the FX led suddenly not turning
On as it did only a day ago?. The button still seems to function
Switching to the fx track and pads go blank, press again
Switches back etc but does not light.
Also the mute led remains half lit even though no track
On any pattern is muted?

This only started when connecting the whole dark trinity
together. With a4 as master to octatrack thru to AR.

I’ve turned mutes to int on a4 and AR.
No luck.
Is this a bug or just my lack of knowledge in how these
Boxes talk to each other?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

SAme Problem for me What Is it???

I assumed this was normal behavior. I realized the fx LED wasn’t lighting up a while back, and at first, I thought it went out, but then I started to assume it was just normal.

Am I wrong?

I’ll assume, no, everything is perfectly fine.

All I can offer is that mine lights up. So I suspect it is some kind of fault. Depends how much it bothers you whether you do anything about it.

Ouf, that’s interesting. I’ll need to further investigate when I get home. I find it hard to believe that so many people’s fx led are going out, but maybe. Also, the light is only off (from what I remember) when the fx pages are selected.

FX LED should be on when the FX Page is selected.
You can verify the functionality of the LED by going into the Test Mode.

Press and hold Function while powering on the unit.
When the menu appears, press the first trigger button in the sequencer row to enter the Test Mode.

When the diagnostics has finished, press the fourth trigger button - this should light the FX LED (among others)

Yes, the FX led works in Test Mode, but it does not work when I’m using it normally. When I select the FX button, nothing happens with the FX LED. Not sure why that is though, sounds like others are having the same issue. Definitely not something I’d wanna have to send the unit in to get fixed for though…

Sounds like a software issue. Please make a support ticket about this detailing how you are using the Rytm (Overbridge or not etc) and we’ll try to figure out why the FX LED is going out.

You can create a new project (completely new) and the issue will go away, but I use project templates, so I’m just dealing with it until a fix comes along.

Thanks ZFIGZ I will do that and wait for an answer/solution from elektron, already sent a support tiket but didnt get answer yet…
thanks again

This was a weird one!
We had a few cases with this, and couldn’t figure it out.

But… I had a sudden realization that it might be related to MIDI input.

Turns out MIDI channel 13 (FX) accepts incoming mutes from for example an Analog Four (if sending on CH13), resulting in a muted FX track - which cannot be unmuted on the device itself.

To resolve, send CC94 to MIDI Channel 13 and unmute.
