I just bought a used Mk1 and when I push the FX button it does not response until I’ve pushed it several times. If I push it frequently it will work but sometimes I’m pushing it 5 to 8 times before it registers.
The screen I’m on has varied so I don’t think it’s that.
Is this something I’m doing?
easiest way to rule that out is disconnect all usb and midi and power off - hold function when starting up and select test mode - you’ll then be able to press pads and buttons and get feedback on the UI consistency/reliability irrespective of which menu you’re in if using the device etc
probably a sticky/dirty/bust button that could possibly be cleaned if you use the correct (and only as per Elektron support recommendation) fluids - do not trust random internet gurus - inc me - so all of this at your own risk, do teh homework on using test mode - see the manual / read the forum etc yhbw
but it might be an easy fix within your grasp
Thanks for the helpful advice . I just tried and it says 0 errors. Might be dirt or something. Is it easy to get to the buttons if I open it?
Zero errors isn’t testing teh buttons responsiveness - you’ll get alphanumeric/led feedback when you press all buttons after the error message has been presented - if one button isn’t as responsive as the others it will be evident
The buttons/switches are easy to get to - but the button cap can also be removed easily and the mechanism could be serviced from there if it only needs proper contact cleaner or whatever Elektron advise - mashing the button once you’ve given it a small drop might free it up - of if teh cap comes off you may see that the switch looks irregular or dirty
there’s advice to help a bit on the forums for all these questions - but Elektron will give best and safest advice - a switch can be swapped out by a competent service person, the part should be easy to procure
test the switch in test mode - it also tests the lcd if you press trig 1 and 2 but onve there you can test the buttons and leds too
Man the leds are awful. I told the seller and they seemed to act as if it happened in shipping. No way.
I haven’t found what is supposed to happen when I push the FX button on here. The ‘2’ led lights and a few page leds illuminate.
I’ll email Elektron and hope they’re quick to respond.
