Future Retro Zillion

I’d be interested in hearing how it blends with the monomachine, assuming it can control one track on the monomachine while the internal sequencer handles the other 5. I’m also just curious on practical use. It seems like (by design) it’s a little bit hard to get repeatable output from it but maybe it’s one of those things where practice makes perfect as far as getting somewhat consistent results. Outside of the video by Jared there hasn’t been much real user feedback so any sort of thoughts workflow with it would be good.

I’ve had good results recording the generated sequences to various tracks. You can at least pick up where you left off as it will let you save the current state. But really, saving to another sequencer is the only way to “repeat” a performance exactly. Once you wrap your head around it, it’s not hard to get results in the ballpark of what you want, and short loop lengths can be quite melodic. It’s been very pleasantly surprising.

erm, no it’s not. it’s 129 .
Zillion looks really interesting. Future Retro know what they’re doing

Here is a single track being sequenced by the Zillion.
I’m still new at it, but this give you an idea. It’s surely better if you take time to set up multiple voices, but in the interest of time, here’s this.

Note: the pace picks up at the 2:00 mark, and again at 3:00ish.

This one has 4 tracks sequenced with the Zillion

I bought one anyway. Great fun. Highly recommended

Bambrose,

I’d be very curious to hear what you’re doing with yours.
I’m having a blast with mine, but my skills are obviously limited.

Thanks,

Nothing complicated yet. I just plugged it in for a jam between the octatrack and the external keyboard ( a Bit99 )
so :
Bit99 midi out to Octatrack midi in.
Octatrack midi out to midi in on the midipal (via a midi solutions midi merge box but that’s besides the point)
Midi out of the midipal to the midi in on the Bit99.
So… I can use the arpeggiator of Octatrack combined with the chord memory of the midipal (for example)
or the delay of the midipal and the sequencer of the Octatrack… or the arpeggiator of the midipal etc
Was great fun. The delay especially got some sounds out of my synths I’ve never heard before, and the arpeggiator ‘patterns’ and swing provides some really inspiring riffs. And the timing is TIGHT. I tried to record the midi output to Ableton, which completely failed to capture the groove. Which sort of demonstrates why you’re better off just working outside the box with these subtleties of groove and arpeggiators etc

Hello,

I reopen this thread in view to have some news about this sequencer.

Does Sinner as user, or other people can tell me more about Zillion.

I’m interested in, but I would like to have informations about the OS. I read somewhere that there were few problems with it.

Any user return ?
