Zoom CDR-70 is a no brainer if you want some extra fx without breaking the bank. The fx in it are very good for bread and butter and you have a lot flexibility with the routing.
I’ve really been enjoying the Yamaha FGDP-50 finger drumming thing (it’s about the same price as the EP-133 I think).
I’ve not used it as part of any real music making setup, so can’t really comments on its connectivity, sound quality, workflow, etc.
It’s great fun as a standalone battery powered instrument though, especially with its built-in speaker. I keep it by my desk/sofa and it’s perfect for coming up with little ideas, and filling up short bits of time that aren’t long enough to power on all my proper music gear.
Ronald S-1 is a really nice synth to bring with you.
Count 175€ for the S-1, plus possibly 28€ for a hard case.
It’s a really gorgeous sounding little synth, the sequencer may be the best Roland have ever done.
If you want to get out of the SH101 sound you can even draw your waveform directly within the synth.
4 voices of polyphony but it’s really a nice tool that can even be used as a crude 2-octave keyboard with arp.
You can resample it and get all sorts of crunchy rhythms and noises or you can clip the input stage and get a very dense distortion into the analog LP filter (very good for bass).
Looks awesome, fits in a pocket, powered by 2x AAA batteries that last for ages and most importantly it cost peanuts!
