I came here to say my 1010 Nanobox Lemondrop and then saw that comment and thought “yep!”

The Lemondrop is somewhat capable, but honestly it’s really not that fun to me. I end up using MIDI to control it from an Elektron machine, rather than using its 2 knobs… I tend to forget I have it. I guess just don’t gel with it and might prefer to use a computer than that box.

Hey, anyone want to buy a 1010 Lemondrop?? It’s in mint condition, barely used!

Frivolous / impulsive buyer 100% here. About 50 synths/fx bought on a whim between 2019 and 2021, most with very little research. Just things I stumbled upon and thought were interesting and happened to found for a decent price 2nd hand. Now on NGNY.

If there was one good thing about impulsively buying stuff however, it helped me figure out what worked for me and what didn’t. Everything I have now gets used regularly and makes sense for me. And as I bought everything 2nd hand I didn’t really lose any money when I sold it.

As you can see I’m still as good as ever at coming up with excuses for buying gear even when I’m not actually buying gear. If I get through 2022 without buying anything I’m gonna set up a poll for what I should buy on 1/1/2023.

I’m really into the Synclavier emulator at the moment. Even without the sampling capabilities the partials and FM are super cool.

My frivolous purchase (for the sake of the thread) was a 60’s Fujigen guitar off the wall at Guitar Center. I can’t go there (or the pet shop when they have rescue cats) without thinking “oh no honey we have to get you out of here”. Anyway the guitar is fantastic, it has super light strings, ridiculously low action, metal pickguard and a tremolo bridge missing the lever and magic pickups that sound high and lonesome in the best way. Amazing through the Strymon Nightsky especially. Zero regrets. Sometimes I think the less impulsive, more researched choices aren’t as good.

500 series cases. They don’t really bring any joy on their own but are necessary for plugging other stuff in and getting it working… but as soon as I fill one up I start thinking about where to put the next one. It does seem more of a hungry monster than my eurorack… Gotta feed the 500!

i’ve had an odd amount of noise performances lately and it just fit the bill all too well with its Chaos function.
