Freedrum

Got 'em, tried 'em, tossed 'em.

I rarely throw gear in the garbage, but I didn’t even give these away, they’re so useless. After weeks of working with them, here’s what makes Freedrum unusable: endless drifting so that you have to constantly go through the orientation process about every 60 seconds, but down to just a few drumstrokes depending on how vigorously you play–and I don’t play all that vigorously. They make the position-orientation process as unobtrusive as possible so that you can do it on the fly, but the bottom line is that you just can’t jam with these things more than a minute at a time without stopping to re-orient the drum piece positions. The devs explain that the drifting problem is due to the limitations of the gyroscopes.

It’s a very usable and practical and fun idea, but a non-toy solution would require more expensive–apparently much more expensive–gyroscopes.
