Free Wavetables available online

Figured this could be a resource for finding wavetables sources online.

I’ve not tried any of these yet, but feel free to add to this list (or critique any of these if they do not work well with the Tonverk).

  1. Free Wavetables for Korg modwave, Serum, Vital, Surge, Bitwig, Phase Plant and other wavetable synths plus single-cycle waveforms

This free wavetables collection now includes about 1600 free wavetables in the formats described at right.

  1. Free Wavetables - kimura taro

Format

  • 2048sample-1024-512-256-128 per cycle 32bit 44.1kHz Wav
  • WT for Phase Plant [2048 samples * 256cycle]
  • WT for Waldorf Blofeld[128 samples * 64cycle]
  1. Same as #2, but optimized for Digitakt II, and coincidentally Tonverk.
  • Optimized for Digitakt2 – 64-frame structure, tuned to note C
  • Versatile Sound Design – From sharp digital textures to smooth harmonic transitions

Included

  • 285 wavetables(Waveforms taken from Free Wavetables and some new waveforms and extras)
  • 48kHz-32bit-Wav
  • Length per one frame is Note C2

Quick heads-up — They were originally made for other synths and probably won’t load correctly in Wavefinder without conversion.

Wavefinder has its own format requirements (2048 samples/slice by default, max 64 slices, and specific filename conventions for other slice sizes).

You can use the Batch Wavetable Converter on my site to convert them:

Setting for TV

  • OutputSize : 2048samples
  • Interpolation : 64frames

Hope that helps!

A dev told us it uses 1024 samples/slices internally.

One extra note on the Digitakt2 pack specifically: while it is 48kHz/32-bit, the frame size is tuned to Note C2 = 734 samples — which doesn’t match Wavefinder’s expected format. On top of that, the shorter frame size means some high-frequency harmonic content is lost compared to the original Free Wavetables pack. For those reasons, I’d actually suggest skipping the Digitakt2 pack for Tonverk use — or removing it from this thread to avoid confusion.

On a side note, I think this thread should probably not “hide” in the Tonverk category.

Tonverk just added Wavefinder, a wavetable synthesis machine, and has unique format requirements to other boxes.

It “hides” here because the thread is specific to here, and how well the packs operate with Tonverk’s new mode.

Fair enough.
And searching for “wavetable” will bring this thread up easy enough, so “hiding” might have been hyperbole.

Don’t own a TV but from what I read here the TV wavetable format is a very different thing from some of the packs listed above, such as “optimised for DT2” or “tuned to C” implying a frame length (number of samples) not related to 2048/1024/512 … etc. So the thread looks general purpose as @KetaFcal suggested.

Sure, which is literally why I typed what you quoted, “and how well the packs operate with tonverk’s new mode.” By this I meant “this is a Tonverk specific thread, and along with sharing free options we can discuss their operability within this architecture.”

Tonverk will not fail to load a sample that isn’t configured to the exact specifications, it just won’t be optimized per their spec. This doesn’t mean a specific pack won’t make musically useful output, but – again – this is a Tonverk specific discussion, hence it’s placement here.

Nice, free, tested, but unfortunately no morphing of parameters like pulse width for instance, just a morph between in / out…

(I tested 2 PW settings, no pulse width modulation result, just a basic morph between 2 waveform)

Which format works on the Tonverk?

i have the same question, i thought it would just just wav files and scan through them but toneverk said “failed to load”, i looked into the manual 5.2 section and i am not tracking how wavetables science goes. i found a bunch of badass single cycle waveforms in my Arturia Prophet VS V folder on my computer, and the craziest synclavier samples.

do you have to digichain all the single cycle waveforms into one long one?

thanks!

Not sure if this is the same as the other Free Wavetable thread, if so, maybe these could be merged.

Not really, the other thread is about Taro’s work. I’ll rename it for clarity.
