On my quest to building the perfect live rig, I’ve exhausted the typical solutions to reduce footprint and improve ergonomics, by using laptop stands, DJ stands, Ikea stands, carton boxes, and so on.
All of those solutions were either bulky, heavy, shaky, required tools to assemble or had loose parts that I kept loosing.
So I decided to make my own version that would be
foldable without loose parts or tools required
as light as possible
raised off the desk to avoid back pain when provided with a normal height table by the venue (happens all the time), and to run cables under it
using minimal space both in the booth and in the luggage
enabling me to get my gear as close together as possible
Judge yourself whether or not I succeeded, but I think these turned out pretty well
Wow this is so well thought and engineered. I also wanted foldable stands for my gear for easy trasnportation to gigs. What I eneded up doing is laser cutting plexiglas to make an X stand with a slot in the middle. Works pretty good and is easy to assemble. Folds completely flat when disassembled.
I was actually thinking about making one for Tonverk, fully knowing that sooner or later I’ll get one, no matter how hard I’m trying to tell myself I don’t need it
But I’m wondering if people actually take their Tonverks up on stage. I mean, the stands are quite useful in the studio too, but where they really shine is live performances.
