Finer resolution with midi controller (Bitwig) over FM Tone Ratio B, Offsets, and FM Drum: Ratio A, Ratio B

On the DN2, there are parameters whose values can only be precisely adjusted on the DN itself.

Is there a way (in Bitwig) to allow me to have a wider range with a macro (controlled by a MIDI controller)? Currently, the values jump in large numbers. I want to be able to control certain parameters with a macro at a finer resolution.

For example, FM Tone Ratio B, Offsets, and FM Drum: Ratio A, Ratio B.

I use this to record the OB values in BW and switch between patches with scenes. See my previous post in the Bitwig Tread.

It would also allow me to fine-tune these parameters with modulation from Bitwig.

Using NRPNs instead of Midi CC maybe? Afaik Bitwig does not work with NRPNs, but you can use Bome Midi Translator to convert CCs into NRPN.

This could work.

When I made a preset to randomize all the parameters of the DN2 in Bitwig with macros and midi CCs, I discovered there are some conflicts and bugs in the midi implementation.

For example, controlling one parameter of one machine can make a parameter of another machine jump in values.

Maybe you have encountered the same problem ?

I am not aware of it and have not used it extensively yet.
Maybe something with the channel routing?

I’m currently using one machine at a time.
I can send you my Bitwig template for DN2 if you’d like to compare.

NRPNs are 14 bit (16,384 steps) vs the 7 bit (128 steps) for Midi CCs.

It’s worth trying. Setting up the midi translator software will take time if you’re not familiar with it, so might be a good idea to test it with a controller or another software that can send NRPNs first.

From my page here, https://www.synthgenie.com/digitone-midi-test I can fine-grain control these values correctly. You may be using MIDI CC instead of NRPN
