I wish Elektron would release an update for Digitakt 2 that included a quantized prep mute mode. I noticed that having this feature would facilitate live performances a lot. Especially if you need to press and hold the fill button during the last bar while simultaneously prepping the mutes for the start for the next loop cycle.
With the current workflow the main issue is that to prep your mutes you need to hold the function button in mute mode and keep it pressed until the end of the last bar, if you happen to press the fill button after holding function you would open the track length set up menu. This makes prepping mutes while also playing your fills very messy.
The main way I worked around this is by pressing the fill button and holding it down before pressing function to select your prep mutes, which is especially tricky to nail on time if you play stuff at 180+ bpm. It would make live performances a lot simpler if in the main menu you could switch prep mute mode from unqantized to quantized. Meaning that if in mute mode I hold function and select which tracks to mute/unmute, I can freely release the function button because the selected tracks will mute automatically at the beginning of the next loop. This would effectively make live performances smoother allowing people to play around with fills and other controls while waiting for the prep mutes to activate at the end of the 8 bars. I know that making another pattern just for this would work, but I found out that I quickly run out of space if every time I need to shut down multiple tracks at once for a drop or other build ups I have to do that. I hope this request resonates with other people’s experiences, I will also write an email to the official Elektron email address.
PS. I am sorry if this request topic was already made, by looking a bit into it I didn’t find much, but I may have not looked enough
